The Studio
Purpose
JF Design believes the most enduring interiors are shaped by the way people live. The studio’s purpose is to create spaces that feel considered, personal and effortless—balancing beauty with comfort, function and a strong sense of place.
Based in Perth, the studio works across new homes, renovations and furnishing projects, responding to each brief with curiosity and care. Natural materials, layered texture, restrained colour and distinctive pieces are brought together to create interiors that feel refined without feeling formal.
Clients are central to the process. JF Design collaborates closely with architects, builders, craftspeople and trusted suppliers to maintain a clear, cohesive vision from early planning through to final installation.
Process
JF Design guides each project through four clearly defined stages, creating a collaborative experience and a cohesive result from the first ideas through to final installation.
01 — Consultation
The brief, lifestyle, scope, priorities and budget are established with each client.
02 — Concept Design
The spatial direction, palette, materials and overall design language are developed.
03 — Detailed Selections
Finishes, fixtures, lighting, joinery, furniture and documentation are resolved.
04 — Implementation
JF Design coordinates procurement, suppliers, trades, styling and installation as required.

Founder & Interior Design Director
Johanna Frolinghaus
JF Design is led by founder and Interior Design Director Johanna Frolinghaus, who shapes the creative direction of every project and remains closely involved from the initial brief through to final installation.
A graduate of Istituto Marangoni, Johanna was awarded Cum Laude as Best Interior Design Student. Her international project experience spans the United Kingdom, France, Israel, Spain, Seychelles, Norway and Sweden. Since moving to Perth in 2012, she has worked across high-end residential and commercial developments.
Johanna’s approach combines international perspective with local knowledge and a calm, highly personal way of working. Natural materials, restrained palettes and layered texture are balanced with functionality, comfort and individual character.
A Personally Led Studio
JF Design is led by Johanna Frolinghaus, who remains personally involved in every project from the initial brief through to final installation. Clients have one consistent point of contact and a design process shaped around their home, priorities and way of living.
When additional expertise is required, Johanna collaborates with the project’s architects, builders, trades, craftspeople and trusted suppliers. This keeps the design vision clear and cohesive while bringing the right expertise into each stage.
